Which of your orders did an AI agent place?
Tactical now reads every order your WooCommerce store sends it and labels it: an agent order, an AI-referred order, or neither. That includes orders placed in an agent checkout that browser pixels never see. Agent revenue is on every plan, the free one included.
Where your analytics gets AI orders wrong
An AI agent can buy from your store in two ways, and browser analytics gets both wrong.
- It checks out somewhere else. With Stripe's agentic checkout, an AI platform creates the WooCommerce order on the server. No page of your store loads, so Google Analytics and your other browser tags never fire. The order is in your admin, and your analytics never hears about it.
- It shops your storefront like a person. An agent browser, such as OpenAI's Operator or Meta's Muse, loads your pages, adds to cart and checks out. Your analytics runs, and files the sale under a person.
A third kind of order looks like neither: a person who bought after ChatGPT or Perplexity sent them to you. AI found them the customer, but a person placed the order.
The labels
| Label | What it means | How sure |
|---|---|---|
| Agent order | The platform marked the order as placed by an agent, for example WooCommerce's Stripe agentic checkout | Deterministic |
| Agent order (session match) | The buyer's browser matches a storefront session from the last 24 hours that Tactical classified as an agent browser | High when that session viewed a product on the order; estimated when it only reached the cart |
| AI-referred order | A person bought after arriving from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot or another assistant | Estimated (last touch) |
The first label that fits wins, in that order, and it's stored with the order. Agent orders and AI-referred orders are never added together: one is an agent buying, the other is a person buying after AI discovery.
What you see
- Agent orders and agent revenue, by agent and by product, with a daily trend. The totals include estimated session matches and say how many there are.
- Invisible to pixels: the agent orders placed in an agent checkout, which no browser tag could have recorded.
- AI-referred orders, next to the agent numbers and never added to them.
- An email the first time your store gets an agent order.
What we've seen so far
There are no numbers in this post, because there aren't any yet. We ran the whole path on our own WooCommerce test store: a test order placed after arriving from ChatGPT came in through the plugin's order webhook and was labelled an AI-referred order, estimated. Getting there exposed three bugs in how a referral was matched to its order, and all three are fixed.
The two agent-order labels are covered by automated tests, but no store running Tactical has recorded an agent order yet. When the first real ones arrive, we'll write up what they looked like.
Where it works
| Platform | Order data |
|---|---|
| WooCommerce | Yes, from the order webhooks the free plugin registers |
| Shopify | Not yet: on Shopify it needs order access the app doesn't have yet. We've asked Shopify for it. Until then, Shopify's own Agentic report in your admin shows orders per AI channel. |
| Custom sites | Not yet: there is no order feed from a custom site |
What an order record holds
The order ID, total, currency, the line items (product, SKU, name, quantity, price) and the label with its method. The buyer's user agent is used to match the order to a session and isn't stored; nor is their IP address, name, email, address or payment details. Order records are kept while your store is connected. Privacy policy.
Try it
Agent revenue is on every plan, with the plan's history: 7 days on the free Scout plan, 90 days on Radar and Command. The free plan covers 100 agent sessions a week, with no credit card. Start free, install the plugin, and your next order gets a label. How attribution works.
