# Tactical

> Tactical is the AEO/GEO measurement layer for e-commerce: first-party analytics on what AI crawlers, shopping agents, and AI-referred buyers actually do on a merchant's own storefront — down to which products AI read and what they bought. It complements citation-tracking tools (which measure whether AI mentions a brand) by closing the loop to on-site behavior and revenue.

## What Tactical measures
- AI crawler fetches — server-side detection of GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, Google-Extended, Applebot, Amazonbot, Bytespider, and more, including crawlers that do not run JavaScript (most AI retrieval crawlers).
- AI shopping-agent sessions on the storefront (behavioral detection).
- AI-referred human visits — from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, You.com.
- AI-influenced orders and revenue, attributed from the referral back to the purchase.

The core artifact is the funnel: AI crawler fetched a product → an agent browsed → an AI-referred human arrived → an order was placed.

## How it differs from Google Analytics

- WooCommerce (plugin): full server-side crawler detection + behavioral JS.
- Direct / custom stores (npm middleware `@tactical-app/agent-analytics`): full.
- Shopify: behavioral JavaScript detection only (Shopify gives apps no server-side request access — a platform limit for every vendor).

## Verification
Crawler hits are marked "verified" when the source IP matches the operator's published IP range, so counts are spoof-resistant and under-claimed by default.
